Here at Aloha Canary, we have strived to provide great price / value to our patrons. We are proud to work a handful of providers that offer us quality goods which we entrust to you, our customers.
The normal trend in business is that of, if you offer quality, your prices would be high – we on the other hand focused on providing quality with low prices in hope that volume would pick up and offset our operating costs. While we were starting to see some improvement, the record high inflation, the side effects of the Ukraine-Russia war immediately u-turned any progress.
As the economy has started to take a downturn and the last year inflation has hit record heights, we will not deny that there have been some hard times. At times we have been faced with providers not having products, flash hikes on prices or simply facing surprise taxes from the Spain government.
While we do understand many believe small business have higher prices & low operating costs, its primal to understand Spain does not like small businesses. We have higher taxes & higher scrutiny when it comes to deduct costs. We also can not afford to negotiate deals with our providers as they normally ask us to purchase huge quantities in advance.
Small businesses like Aloha Canary are family owned and play a vital rile in our communities to offer diverse products, work with local providers and individuals, pay taxes, which generally big retailers do not carry out.
Therefore, having considered all aspects and hoping to being able to provide the same quality products to our customers, we are being forced to revise our prices. Since the launch of our website, we have not changed our prices. We were forced to shutdown our retail outlets to cut costs & keep prices the same. Now we reached a point where if we do not increase our prices, we will not even be breaking even.
Our product prices will still be competitive, and we will be offering timely discounts.
In regards to shipping, we already cover 60-70% of the actual cost of shipping that Correos Spain charges us. A typical packet from the Canary Islands to the UK costs between 13-15EUR, we charge 7.50EUR. This price will be reviewed as well.
